The War

Let's look at the rationales for the Iraq war, crossing off the ones that have proven false:

1. Saddam's weapons of mass destruction pose a direct and immanent threat to the United States and its allies.
   
2. A restructuration of the Iraqi regime along "democratic" lines will prompt a renaissance in the Middle East (though unlikely, this result is not yet strictly "false," since the restructuring process is obviously not complete).
   
3. A US-led invasion is the only way to stop human-rights abuses and brutality in Iraq.
