Intelligence is on the retreat!
I can rest easy tonight.I can do so knowing that President Bush will not name the judges who decided the Dred Scott decision to the supreme court, should Justice Scalia have a heart attack during one of his wild raging orgies.
Seriously, I'm not sure I doubt Bush could start ressurecting Roger Taney and crew. As fearful as zombies are, and as fearful as Supreme Court Judges can be, undead racist supreme court judge zombies have to be 5 times scarier.
But, I mean, seriously? To illustrate who he wouldn't name to the court, he says basically - "Well, I won't name people like those who made the worst decision in Supreme Court History 150 years ago."
What's next? Maybe:
- "I'll tell you, the general who ordered the My Lai massacres will not be in my military"
- "You know, I would not name someone like Hitler to my cabinet."
- "Let me give you a few examples of who I will not name as ambassador to Ireland...Someone like..Oliver Cromwell, who is thought to have murdered thousands if not hundreds of thousands of Irish in cruel and dispicable ways..that's not ambassador-like qualities..that's personal opinion"
- "I'm not telling who I like, but I will say someone like St. Ignatius of Loyola is not going to be on my Religious Tolerance commitee"
- "I can assure you that someone sharing the traits of Jack The Ripper is not going to be my attorney general."
- "I can tell you this, someone sharing the combined traits of Mother Brain and the Eggplant Wizard will not be my choice to replace Kevin as Captain N: Game Master."
I mean...really though, did he just learn what the Dred Scott case was and thought he'd show off? Or is he just hoping to score big with the 6th graders who just covered this in class?
At least we know that if his nominees did revert back to the Dred Scott decision, Bush would stand by his decision to appoint them, and would do it all the same knowing they'd make that wrong decision. I mean, with Kerry, you never know what you're going to get.
UPDATE:
Just watched the replay on C-Span. I thought this was so the first time around, but this second time put it beyond any doubt. Someone tell me again how this works out....
Bush said that Senator Kennedy was voted the most liberal senator of all ...therefore John Kerry is lying and will really raise your taxes, even if you make less than 200 LARGE.
Did he really just call his opponent by the wrong name? Or, did I just miss the link of how Ted Kennedy's liberalness effects John Kerry's likelihood toward taxation?
I lost my capability to understand so long ago.
It's assumed he's going by the National Journal ratings which rated Kennedy as the most liberal (although Cheney/Bush have many many times said it was Kerry, who was rated 10th), so either he's finally admitting the truth and just making no sense, or he's just not understood he was lying, because he thinks John Kerry is Senator Kennedy!
