The Newest, Hottest Meme: Here
Chris Brooke has decided to tag "no one in particular." I'll take him up, only because he's sitting in the Lower Reading Room at the Bodleian, and that made me feel nostalgic. What I wouldn't give to have my bag cursorily checked by those grumpy guards! What I wouldn't give to be told that I could not enter at 3:55 because my access privileges only started at 4:00!1) Total number of books I've owned: 423, exactly.
2) The last book I bought: Since the Bantam New College German-English Dictionary probably doesn't count for purposes of this question, I'm going to pick one book that I bought in my last load -- Pierre Bourdieu, L'ontologie politique de Martin Heidegger. I've read the first few pages, but I bought it mainly for stockpiling purposes during a sale at the foreign-language bookstore. One must always have reams of French prose to read for when the apocalypse comes.
3) The last book I read: Against All Heresies by Irenaeus.
4) Five books that mean a lot to me (no particular order): White Noise by Don DeLillo, Gravity's Rainbow by Thomas Pynchon, Donner la mort by Jacques Derrida, God Without Being by Jean-Luc Marion, The Merry Adventures of Robin Hood by Howard Pyle
5) People to Tag: Anthony Smith, Brad Johnson, Discard the Name, Dave Belcher, and Jared Woodard
