Being and Event Reading Group: Schedule and Poll
So today my copy of Being and Event, so I can finally post the tentative reading schedule. For the purposes of our reading group, limited as it is to seven weeks, I purpose we leave out the appendixes. They seem to be something that should be read in conjunction with the chapters anyway, so I'll just trust you to read those on your own. The same goes for the new introduction and the translator's introduction. Without the appendixes we’re looking at an average of sixty-two pages a week that I’ve tried to keep to within the chapters.
Week 1: 1 - 59
Week 2: 60 – 120
Week 3: 123 - 183
Week 4: 184 - 254
Week 5: 255 - 314
Week 6: 315 - 376
Week 7: 376 – 435
The week following the final group discussion (April 5th-11th) we’ll have the Being and Event Week. I’ll take the first week to present, sticking to the graduate course reading assignment format (short discussion of what I consider to be important or most interesting followed by two questions to get discussion going) since I don’t know of anything better.
That leads to the final issue of our actual day of discussion. Initially I had thought Wednesday would be a good day to have our discussions, but Adam mentioned that people have actual lives and Wednesday may not be the best day for these “people”. So, your options are either Wednesday or Saturday, with the group beginning either February 15th or February 18th. Just let me know in the comments and I'll tally the votes. Voting ends Friday at noon.
Though it looks like we have about five or more people, those who have not mentioned it already are, of course, welcome to participate.
