David Brooks, tenured columnist at the New York Times, is apparently trying to call the Democrats Nazis. You can't read the column because- The attempt to defeat Lieberman in the primaries amounts to an Inquisition (as we know, the Inquisition's primary goal was to purge crypto-Jews).
- The people who are primarily opposed to Lieberman are Caucasian -- i.e., descended from the Aryan tribes who spread from India, through Persia, and into Europe.
- These liberal fanatics want to purify the party, pragmatism be damned -- just as the Nazis carried out their genocidal plan despite the fact that it was hampering the war effort
And this is one of the "reasonable" conservatives.
In an unrelated matter, how long before Daily Kos becomes pure meta-blog? Or before the big liberal blogs are talking about nothing except the New Republic and how much they hate blogs? Are there a lot of Jews on the staff at the New Republic? Because if there are, it would be really brilliant for the conservatives to frame the issue based on that -- the reason the liberal blogosphere is so opposed to the New Republic is because Liberal == Nazi. Because as we know, the Religious Right really has a deep respect for Jewish people and Judaism (via Bitch PhD) and doesn't take kindly to people saying bad stuff about them -- because man, saying critical things about their substantive policy positions that have nothing to do with their religion or ethnicity is just way over the fucking line!!! And I think that middle America really understands that, in a way that our effete decadent deracinated liberal elites in this country don't.
