(8:49 AM) | Adam Kotsko:
A dream
There is nothing more boring than hearing about other people's dreams.
Last night I had one, though: I was in a stadium very similar to my high school's gymnasium, sitting near the top of the bleachers (next to Josh Hancock, incidentally). I realized suddenly that a recent ex-girlfriend who can't remember her natural hair color was sitting right in front of me, with a hair color I'd never seen on her before. Something happened to make us all stand and applaud, and she turned around to talk to me. A few months ago, I made an abortive attempt to get back in contact with her, and she said that she wanted to talk about that.
I leaned in closer to her, and my ear brushed up against her hair. She became engraged and went to the other end of the bleachers. I went over to see what was wrong, and she was still mad when I got there. She told me, "You don't have enough now to make up for then." That was the end.
I have never had a dream in which someone spoke so articulately -- in fact, I can't really remember much dialog at all. I just had the intution that she was saying something about wanting to talk to me after all, even though she had turned down the opportunity at the time, and I can't remember her specific wording. Her closing statement, though, is clear as day.
I'm glad I wrote this, because it helps me to be late for work today, just like I am every damn day.
