Friday, September 10, 2004(10:16 AM) | Richard McElroy: The Economics of Ebay: A short rant about Dick CheneyIn a speech recently Dick Cheney defended our flailing economy by saying that economists hadn't figured in the hundreds of thousands of people who make money on Ebay. Really? That wasn't factored in? Really? I am so fucking pissed off right now. I know they say stupid things all the time, but really this is ridiculous. "Don't worry guys -- the economy is just fine. We've got ebay." I understand that some people have the ability to make a good amount of money on there -- I never have, but lots of people are better at that than I am. But to downplay the sorry state of the economic figures by saying that we forgot to count ebay is just plain stupid. Right now I am so frustrated I want to scream, but I can't because I am at work stealing company time. This is the best scream I can make. |
