My Meeting with Matt Weiner
Ben Wolfson beat me to the punch, but here is my impression of Matt Weiner, from our meeting tonight, which we planned over a week ago --Wolfson and I had been standing in front of the Exchequer restaurant, conveniently located right by the Adams and Wabash CTA stop, for about twenty minutes when Ogged showed up. Twenty minutes later, still no Weiner, so we walked around aimlessly, almost as though we were a group full of unassuming and indecisive scrawny guys who like to blog, until finally settling on the Chipotle grill. The "Bitch PhD thing" was brought up obliquely, in terms of Ogged saying, "Matt is probably still mad at me about the Bitch PhD thing," but it didn't become awkward, despite the fact that the woman he shunned now has a key to my blog. Ben walked to a concert venue, which apparently turned out to be sold out, and Ogged and I walked to our respective modes of transportation.
I read a decent chunk of Spinoza on the train.
UPDATE: Infinite Thought addresses the phenomenon of "cutting":
Self-harm is the attempt to induce reality ex nihilo in the wake of the inescapable virtualisation of all meaning. As such it appears, quite perversely, as a stubborn and resilient gesture that skirts the rational much more than the rabid.I really like this post. I have really liked all her posts ever since she turned off comments, and I like her new template, and I like the cool pictures she posts. Overall: good job.
