(5:51 PM) | Adam Kotsko:
Why I didn't post today
I had an interview this morning at another temp agency. Afterward, I wandered around downtown, and the agency called me with a job. Apparently it was so urgent that they were willing to just put me in a cab and get me there. It wasn't quite in the loop, but it was a lot more convenient than the west suburbs. This seems to bode well for the summer overall.I have some intellectual goals for the summer, although making some money is the first priority. Since the "hour a day of French" idea seems to have served me well, I've thought about doing an hour a day of the church fathers, so as finally to get beyond Justin Martyr, and doing an hour a day of German. My German book advertises that by the end of 100 hours of study, I'll be reading Nietzsche and Kafka; by my calculations, that puts me at late July, or mid-August if I give myself a day off every now and then. There are also a few books that I'd like to read:
- Critique of Cynical Reason by Peter Sloterdijk
- Some Kant and Spinoza
- Agamben's Paul book when it finally comes out
- Another Lacan seminar
If anyone has any suggestions for anything of this nature, please let me know.
