(8:12 AM) | Adam Kotsko:
Friday Afternoon Confessional
Thanks again to Jared Sinclair for the new logo.
I confess that one of the deepest insults I've ever received was when a love interest said that I'm just like the cop on Magnolia. She later topped herself when she said that I was breaking it off with her because I wanted to write about her.
I confess that in addition to becoming a cat, socially, I'm responding to other human beings like I would to a cat; for instance, when I see an attractive woman walking down the street, I think, in a talking-to-a-cat voice, "Aw, you're such a cutie."
I'm glad to confess that my enforced slow reading of Nietzsche in German is now rubbing off in the English as well. At least, for the moment I'm glad. We'll see how it's going later in the semester.
I confess that I've gotten into the habit of positioning myself as "volunteer of last resort" for the first student presentation in any given class -- partly out of my well-publicized neurotic desire to always "get things done" as soon as possible, but more out of my annoyance at having to sit through that awkward period after the professor says, "Anyone?" and everyone just sits there either really closely studying the syllabus or else looking expectantly at others.
I have made the good confession; go thou and do likewise.
