(9:21 PM) | Adam Kotsko:
Attribution Theory
I am currently reading an essay by Ken Surin in which he cites the idea that we find it much easier to envision the catastrophic end of life on earth than the end of capitalism. Surin attributes this idea to Frederic Jameson, whereas I have always associated it with Žižek. I wouldn’t put it past Žižek to steal this saying, but at the same time, it seems like he would want to give attribution due to the obvious jouissance he derives from dropping names.Does anyone have any insights into the actual origin of the idea in question?
