Search Results
The Weblog is in the top ten search results for cunnilinguis. This stems, of course, from my abortive Festschrift in Honor of Chun the Unavoidable, for which one of the suggested topics was "Cunnilinguis and the Discursive Performance of Class."
Belle Waring's Crooked Timber post promoting the aforementioned festschrift is also in the top ten (even a little higher -- apparently Google thinks that Crooked Timber is more important than The Weblog, even though our blog is a week older than their blog). I say congratulations to us both for becoming such renowned authorities on such an important topic.
(I discovered this while looking at my referal information in Site Meter. It's not what you think.)
UPDATE: In the comment to one of Belle's posts that inspired my potential festschrift, Chun says, "It's really only the educated classes who perform cunnilingus." Note that the spelling is different from mine. If you put that spelling into Google, you get instructions in how to do it, rather that stupid blog posts that mention it only once in passing, so I'm going to assume that I had the spelling wrong. The fact remains, however, that I am hovering near the bottom of the top ten search results for my misspelling.
UPDATE:
The likely cause of my misspelling is a former high school colleague of mine, Jared [Creiner/Creider?]. The popular speech teacher, whose name I also can't remember exactly, used to give out a "Master Debater" award at the end of the semester. Jared took the cue and decided there should also be a "Cunning Linguist" award. In my opinion, that represents a very advanced degree of knowledge for a high school student.
The last I heard from him, he was working at the New York Times, and he saw on my web page that I was giving away logins and passwords to circumvent their registration process. He encouraged me to continue doing so. I suppose there's a chance that he's reading, so Jared, if you are, I apologize for not remembering your precise last name, and I hope everything's going well for you.
