Friday Afternoon Confessional: Summer Vacation Edition
I confess that the failure of any kind of technology or tool -- a computer glitch, a blown fuse, a shower that won't drain -- makes me more angry than literally anything in the world. I sometimes suspect that I'm storing up from all the times when actual people make me mad, then direct it all at an object that can't yell back at me or be mad at me in return. Ultimately, however, it is possible for me to end a friendship with a tool by throwing it across the room and breaking it, but I have not done that in a long time.
I confess that when the fuse blew this morning, I went down and started messing with the fuses without fully warning Anthony, so I think he might have ended up losing some work.
I confess that once, I was really stressed out because I had forgotten my girlfriend's birthday, and I was trying to wrap a present real quick. I picked up Richard's left-handed scissors, found them useless, and threw them across the house. He was home at the time and was not pleased. (This was several years ago.)
I confess that once, driving in heavy Chicago traffic, I unthinkingly cut off a motorcyclist and very nearly got him killed. (This was probably last year.)
You can go ahead and confess now, but first:
AN ANNOUNCEMENT
Effective upon the posting of this confessional, I am taking a week off from blogging. I have even turned off my Bloglines notifier. I have set up comment notifications to be directed to Anthony, so unwelcome posts will continue to be deleted or edited as quickly as ever (in fact, he did most of the editing for the infamous Troll of Sorrow). Dave Belcher has agreed to do the Tuesday Hatred for next week, and I'm sure that other co-bloggers will step up to make sure that new content continues to appear throughout the coming week.
I will return for next Friday's confessional, at which point I will resume my normal blogging schedule. (This is an attempt to deal with the huge amount of work I have set myself between now and next Friday, not a portent of The End.)
