(11:04 AM) | Adam Kotsko:
Neighborliness
Marc Goodman alerts me of a past two-quarter seminar on the ethics of the neighbor at UCLA (part one, part two). It was, shall we say, "team taught," and the team included John Milbank, Eric Santner, Hent deVries, Joan Copjec, Etienne Balibar, Alain Badiou, Slavoj Zizek.... He also links to pieces that seem to be versions of contributions by Kenneth Reinhard and Eric Santner to the upcoming volume on the ethics of the neighbor (which will include a contribution by Zizek).I wish I could go back to the good old days when I didn't wince every time I saw that Zizek was going to be joining some academic conversation. It's getting to be tantamount to being a Smashing Pumpkins fan. I'm sure his new book will redeem him! I'm sure he's been working incredibly hard on it and that that explains his cut-and-paste method for most of his articles! It's just gotta be true -- it's just gotta!
