Great Mac Apps
Not about investing! FYI!- Quicksilver - an application launcher so intuitive, so fast, you'll find yourself opening applications just for fun. "Man, RealPlayer kind of sucks, but it sure was easy to open!" Quicksilver beats the pants off of Spotlight.
- Vienna - does two things well: 1) it's a quick, lithe RSS reader that 2) does a good job of being free.
- Writeroom - forces you to write by cutting out the distractions and filling up the whole screen. The nostalgic return to the days of dark backgrounds and monochrome text is nice.
- toread - lets you send webpages or articles to yourself via email for reading later, perfect for those pieces that aren't trivial enough to dismiss forever, but certainly don't deserve a bookmark. Best of all, it's not Mac specific!
- VLC - the handy uncle of multimedia players. If all your other, prettier audio/video apps have tried and failed, there's at least a chance VLC can pry the file open. Available in every damn format under the sun, including Red Hat Linux.
