(1:45 PM) | Dave Belcher:
The Fucker(s)...
Saturday night Jodi came into the bedroom and woke me up to ask if I could take Samuel so she could get some sleep. Then she said she had heard some noises in the front and the back, and then seen some lights go on and off in the back. So, we walked into the office (bedroom and office are on the second floor of our "townhouse") and I turned off the desklamp so I could see through the glare of the window. Though it was dark, I could see nothing outside--no shadows, no lights. I turned the desklamp back on, drew the blinds, and turned to Jodi, "Well, I don't think it's anything..." Seconds later we heard an explosion of glass downstairs. We quickly took the baby, ran into the bedroom, locked the door, and hid behind the bed while my wife called 911. It took the cops 10 minutes to get there and though we heard a car screach away, I couldn't ID the plates because I was too busy looking at the light under the door to make sure I didn't see any shadows of someone upstairs. The fucker(s) didn't take anything...I almost wonder whether or not that assbitch threw the brick through our sliding glass door just for kicks, or because he was high or something (I'm guessing the person was male based on the size of the brick, how far it flew through the window and the amount of glass it broke out from the door...anyone seen "Signs"?). I've never been so infuriated or felt so violated in all my life (and someone broke into my car in (S)Kankakee, IL a few years ago, resulting in my brother and I chasing him down the street in our underwear). Thinking about having the baby in the apartment with us, I was surprised to find how easily it was for me to envision what I would have done to that fucker if he had come upstairs. Christian humility? Pacifism? Bullshit. I would have broken his neck with my bare hands...in fact, I would have preferred (in my envisioning) to have done it with my bare hands than have used a weapon--if I had that option.
So, (situation) ethics? J.B. Fletcher can suck my...well, you get the picture.
