(2:23 PM) | Adam Kotsko:
Public Broadcasting
Reportedly, a Congressional committee has voted to cut all funding for NPR and PBS within the next two years. Click here for details and to sign the petition. My friends who sent this to me have little kids. Surely saving PBS is worth it if only to make sure that kids have something to watch that is not explicitly marketting consumer goods to them every ten minutes. And I also enjoy NPR news and hate all other radio news programs, so there's that. I know it's not quite Democracy Now, and they have pissed me off by the degree to which they've bowed to conservative pressure and become yet another "he said she said" operation to a certain degree -- that said, I would much rather that NPR remain in existence in its current form, as opposed to not.
