(10:09 PM) | Adam Kotsko:
Why is it
that there's only one guy in the mainstream media who will actually tell it how it is, using facts and information, without trying to appear "balanced" by giving equal time to two arbitrary "sides" to some contrived "debate"? For instance: government-run health systems are better, period. In virtually every conceivable way, they're better. Why can't the media just come out and say this? Why don't we ever get the big story in Time magazine comparing different countries' health systems, for example? Why is it that one lone economist has to singlehandedly fulfill the role that the entire free press is supposed to play in a functioning democracy/society?Wait, that's not fair -- there's also Seymour Hersh. Okay, so two guys. That's one fact-based, non-cowardly, mainstream-media-employed journalist for every 150 million Americans -- frankly, that's not very good coverage. And one of them's not even technically a journalist.
